The head of the Transitional Council expressed his thanks to the government of the Russian Federation for the invitation, the warm welcome and the generous hospitality, referring to the historical relations that have been strengthened between the South and the Russian Federation, according to the official spokesman of the Council Ali Al Kathiri.

Al-Zubaidi said, "Many common positions on many issues in the South, Yemen, and the region in general unite us, and require more joint cooperation and coordination to face challenges and threats, and to take care of common interests, especially with regard to the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden, shipping lines, and combating terrorism." "Political and economic cooperation and integration."

During the meeting, the Transitional President stressed the importance of the Riyadh Agreement and the opportunity it represents towards the normalization of conditions, the return of services and the achievement of a comprehensive peace process, noting the need to complete its implementation, stressing at the same time the need to involve the South as a key party in the comprehensive political process sponsored by the United Nations. Noting that any attempt to absent the South and its legitimate cause will fail.

He stressed the Southern Transitional Council’s adherence to the goals and aspirations of the southern people, and their right to self-determination, restore their identity, and build their independent state on its borders before May 21, 1990.

 For his part, the Russian official affirmed that his country supports a comprehensive political process that includes ending the war and addressing all issues, with the southern issue being at the forefront, expressing Russia s respect for the aspirations and options of the people.
